Harley Quinn: 5 crucial things to remember for Season 5

Before Harley and Poison Ivy bring their love and chaos back to HBO Max in season 5 of Harley Quinn, here's a reminder of the five most important things you need to know before the premiere.

Shockingly, season 5 of Harley Quinn hasn’t been released yet. There have been tweets from Harley Quinn’s Twitter account saying that the show was going to return in November 2024. While there’s still time for it to debut, the lack of news leaves that idea in doubt. Especially since it’s missing from HBO’s recent trailer for November releases.

A lot has happened since we last saw Harley, Poison Ivy, and the rest of their crew. Barbara Gordon was shot by Joker (season 4 "Potato Based Cloning Incident "), the Legion of Doom's base was destroyed (season 4, "Killer's Block"), and Kite Man and Golden Glider almost destroyed the world in Kite Man: Hell Yeah! (episode 10 "Hero Stuff, Hell Yeah! ").

With Harley Quinn eventually returning to HBO Max, now is the time to go over the five most important things to know going into season 5. Let's start with Gotham City's newest team.

Gotham City Sirens

At the end of season 4, Catwoman brings Harley, Ivy, and Barbara Gordon together after learning that Nightwing’s body was stolen from his casket (Selina was doing some light grave robbing). With that in mind, Catwoman decided that they should form a team called the Gotham City Sirens. Ivy thinks Cobb Squad is a better name and Barbara likes Birds of Prey. Considering Catwoman has a commanding presence, they’ll go as the Gotham City Sirens.

Nightwing’s death and resurrected

Harley killed Nightwing during her sleepwalking issues. Instead of admitting what she did, Harley blames it on her potato clone. Unfortunately for Harley, Nightwing was resurrected by Talia al Ghul and the Lazarus Pit.

While Barbara and Ivy think it was the clone, Nightwing knows the truth. Eventually, Harley will have to admit the truth when Dick Grayson comes knocking at her door. Ivy will forgive her partner, but Barbara Gordon won’t.

Batman is out of jail

While Bruce Wayne serves his time for his crimes (he's arrested in season 3 "The Horse and the Sparrow"), he sees that Gotham City is on fire. Knowing Batman is needed, Bruce snaps his fingers, tells his assistant to call Judge Chase, and gets out of jail. With everything that happened during Kite Man: Hell Yeah! the world will need the Dark Knight (more on that next).

Anti-Life Equation

During the season finale of Kite Man: Hell Yeah! Golden Glider’s mother Rebecca Chen took the Anti-Life Equation for herself. With an army of undead fairy tale characters under her control, Rebecca says she has worlds to destroy. It’s too bad someone else may have called dibs on Earth. That someone is the collector of worlds and knowledge, Brainiac.

Brainiac is coming

Harley Quinn has battled some of the deadliest villains on Earth and survived. Sometimes she wins with a lot of luck and sometimes with skills and a lot of help. She’s even managed to trick Darkseid into giving her an army of Parademons (season 2 "Inner 'Para' Demons"). None of that will be enough to take on Brainiac. A threat so dangerous that he terrifies Superman.

There’s some good news with the Anti-Life Equation and Brainiac coming in the same season. One problem will take care of the other. However, things won’t end there. When Anti-Life Equation defeats or loses to Brainiac, Harley and her crew will be left with the winner. I say Harley and her crew because this universe's Justice League is useless.

However things end, Caped Crusades will be here to report it.
