The things that happened during The Penguin season finale may have left you scratching your head. Don’t feel bad. This is how you know the ending was good. The creators want you to come back for more. The only way to do that is to leave viewers with concerns about what they saw.

Three major things happened during episode 8 of The Penguin. This article is going to break them down and explain why they happened and what makes them important. Let’s start with the biggest elephant in the room, the Bat Signal.

The Bat Signal lit the air as Oz Cobb danced with Eve Karlo in his tower. It’s the first time we’ve seen anything relating to Dark Knight in Gotham City since he helped people during the flood in The Batman. This is a reminder to the fans that he’s out there and on his way. When we’ll see him next remains to be seen.

We don’t know when The Batman 2 will be released, but, according to Matt Reeves via Business Insider, it starts filming in 2025. That means we’ll be lucky if Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight is on screen before June of 2026. By then, we may have another series from that universe. It could be the Joker.

Oz’s trauma

After Oz kills Victor Aguilar, we see him in his penthouse in his mother’s room. She’s in a vegetative state, but Oz doesn’t acknowledge it. He’s also talking to her as if she didn’t say she always hated him and didn’t try and kill him. It's the biggest case of denial we’ll see all year, but not the weirdest thing he did. That happened when he danced with Eve and he called her ma.

When Oz is confronted about killing his brothers, he denies it. At first, it seemed like Oz didn’t want to admit it to his mother in front of Sofia. As the episode continues, it starts to seem as if he doesn’t remember doing it. Maybe blocking it out and calling Eve “ma” is how his brain processes traumatic moments. Either way, this isn't the last time we'll see scenes like this from Oz Cobb.

Sisters

Sofia Gigante would probably prefer being killed to being trapped in Arkham. However, some good news came her way. Julian Rush hands Sofia a letter from Selina Kyle. As she reads it, Sofia starts to smile. We don't know what it says, but it could be because Sofia now knows she has a sister.

Selina might have been waiting for the right time to contact Sofia. Now that their father, Carmine Falcone, and his family are gone it was the perfect time to talk. Except Sofia was in the middle of a gang war with Oz.

With everything going on with Oz, there’s no way Sofia would have accepted the information as truth. She would have looked at it as another one of Oz’s tricks. So, while Arkham isn’t an ideal place to be, something good came out of it. It's likely another ally for Soifa and more trouble for Oz Cobb in a possible season 2 of The Penguin. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades to see if that happens thanks to a prison break with Selina.
