The Penguin: 6 Batman characters could we see in the finale

It was reported that Batman wouldn't appear in HBO Max's The Penguin. However, there should be other surprises. These are the ones we should expect to see before the credits roll on episode 8 of The Penguin.

Season and series finales always have surprises. People die, move on, or fake their deaths. There’s also a good chance that someone shocking will appear. When it comes to comic book shows, the surprises are more likely.

Comic book projects are born from universes with hundreds of characters. With The Batman universe just getting started, it makes sense that the creative team would take this opportunity to bring in new characters or ones from the movie. This article will bring up the ones that could appear in the last episode of The Penguin. Let's start with the guy who this world revolves around.

Bruce Wayne

The creators said Batman wouldn’t appear in The Penguin. They didn’t say anything about billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne. This would be a nice twist to what the reports said. Also, we need to see Bruce angry at what was happening in Gotham. Especially since Batman was nowhere to be found. Maybe Joker was right in 1989's Batman and he was at home washing his tights.

Joker

The Joker not appearing in the season finale of The Penguin would be a mistake. He’s too important of a character not to be seen especially after his brief arrival in The Batman. Plus, if Joker knew what Riddler was doing outside of Arkham, he would know about Sofia.

One of Joker’s more underrated attributes is knowing things. He's crazy, but he’s well-informed. There’s no way the legend of Sofia Falcone (now Sofia Gigante) in and outside Arkham didn’t reach the Clown Prince of Crime. If that’s the case, he’ll want in on the fun she and Oz Cobb got or are getting into.

James Gordon

Where the (censored) was Jim Gordon throughout all of this? Understandably, Gotham City is a mess and he’s probably doing a thousand things. The explosion should be enough for Gordon to make a statement or be seen sending people to figure out what’s going on. If we don't see him, maybe the reason will come out during The Batman 2.

Harvey Dent

The villain in The Batman 2 should appear in The Penguin's last episode because it sets the stage for the next chapter in this universe. Since there's a gang war happening in Gotham, it's the perfect time and place for Harvey Dent to debut. This would lead to the birth of Two-Face.

Using Harvey Dent here is perfect. Fans will get excited for The Batman 2 knowing that Two-Face is around the corner. Hopefully, it’ll be more than just Harvey flipping a coin or poster on a wall saying “Vote for Dent”.

It would be nice to see the future character denouncing the violence and the crooked Gotham City Police Officers who helped Oz and Sofia tear Gotham apart. However, just because he says he is against it doesn't make it true. There are universes where Harvey Dent isn't a good person (Batman: Caped Crusader on Prime Video and Harleen the comic book by writer Stjepan Šejić .)

Riddler

If there’s one thing you can count on it’s Riddler being stubborn and obsessive. The same thing goes for his followers. It wouldn’t be shocking if there’s a report of Riddler’s cult breaking him out of Arkham. Or, and this could be scarier, what if Joker's the reason he escapes?

Batman

I’m going to make a bold prediction and say that Batman will show up in episode 8 of The Penguin. People reporting on the news have lied or withheld the truth before. It helps lower the expectations of viewers. If they said Batman was in the show, people would be upset waiting for his appearance and become disappointed after every episode. This way, when he arrives, it becomes a memorable moment.

This writer doesn’t expect Batman to swoop in and defeat Sofia and Oz. It would be a quick cameo of him standing on a rooftop or scaring the poop out of Penguin as a reminder that he’s still around. If the latter happens, Oz will remind the Dark Knight that he was nowhere to be found during the fight that caused the death of innocent Gotham citizens.

Stay tuned to Caped Crusades to see what Batman characters show up at the end of The Penguin.
