Doubters couldn’t get past Robert Pattinson’s Twilight role to think he’d be a good Batman or Bruce Wayne. However, he’s become an accomplished actor since leaving the very successful vampire franchise. He was brilliant in Good Time, The Lighthouse, and Tenet. Each showed different reasons why he was the right pick to play the Dark Knight.
It’s been over two years since The Batman debuted and fans have been anticipating news for the movie’s sequel will be happy. Screenwriter Mattson Tomlin told Screen Rant that filming for The Batman 2 will start in 2025.
"It's shooting next year. We're gearing up, and I will say that the bar just couldn't be higher." -Mattson Tomlin
The Batman sequel was supposed to start filming in November of 2023. Due to the writers' strike, that was delayed. Considering that the writers were treated unfairly, it's understandable that there was a stop in production. Their contracts needed renegotiating. Now that things are rectified, you'll have happier workers. Happier creators lead to better scripts due to comfortable work conditions.
Another delay comes from the upcoming Max show The Penguin (set to debut on September 18, 2024). DC Studios focused on the program rather than hurrying things. This shows dedication to this universe by taking the time to do things right. We've seen potentially good projects ruined because they were rushed. This doesn't appear to be the case here.
What to look forward to in Penguin
During The Batman, Carmine Falcone was killed by the Riddler. The second Carmine was out, Oswald Cobblepot took over and became one of the most powerful crime bosses in Gotham City. The Penguin will bridge the gap between everything after Penguin becomes boss and The Batman sequel. Unfortunately for Oswald, this made him a target for anyone looking to make a name for themselves.
Criminals won't be his only problems, Oswalt will be in the crosshairs of Batman and Carmine Falcone's daughter, Sofia Falcone (played by Cristin Milioti). After everyone comes after him, Oswalt may regret being in charge. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades to see how this works out for Penguin.
