Amanda Waller’s Task Force VII consists of Amazo robots that stole powers from metahumans. The only member of Task Force VII that isn’t an Amazo is a robot created by Batman named Failsafe (read Chips Zdarsky's Batman: Failsafe for its origin). Despite not having the powers of heroes like Superman, the Flash, and Wonder Woman, Failsafe is the most dangerous character in DC Comics' crossover Absolute Power. This was proven in Task Force VII No. 4.

During Task Force VII No. 4, Failsafe is chasing Voodoo throughout the Court of Owls maze. Before he can capture her, Nightwing, Robin (Tim Drake), The Ray, and Miss Martian intervene. For a second, it looks like the heroes are going to win. They’ll finally beat one of Amanda Waller’s robots. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. He healed his body from the heroes' attacks. Failsafe has become stronger than he was before. That’s a scary thought considering that he defeated the Bat Family and Superman in his debut.

Failsafe has all of Batman’s memories and skills. This leads to him anticipating everything that heroes and villains will do. Add Failsafe’s tough armored body, inability to feel pain, and gadgets and abilities, and you have the most dangerous being in Absolute Power. Waller has no idea what she created. The minute she's outlived her usefulness or makes a mistake, Failsafe will put her in a cell with the rest of the heroes and villains.

Thankfully, all of these attributes don’t make Failsafe unbeatable. Not having Batman’s empathy may seem like a weakness, but it’s not. There are skills and planning that come with caring for people. For example, when Failsafe was defeated, Batman used Failsafe's programming of not killing against it. It’s easy to believe something similar will happen again. However, Absolute Power shouldn't be the last we see of Failsafe.

Heroes in comic books will always need new and tougher villains to fight. It would make sense for Failsafe to be next up. He’ll fix the weaknesses in Task Force VII and turn them into a new team of villains for the Titans, Justice League, and more. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades to see if that happens.

Do you think Failsafe will be Amanda Waller's downfall? Are you enjoying Absolute Power?
