Gotham City Sirens No. 2: Punchline becomes more than a sidekick

Gotham City Sirens is about more than Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman. Writer Leah Williams is making Punchline a focal point of this series and that's a good thing.

Previously, in Gotham City Sirens No. 1, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy discover a plot involving an energy drink called XO Punch. The energy drink is connected to mechanical bison, a kidnapping, and cowboys called the Nasty Boys. The end of the issue shows that Punchline was behind this. Gotham City Sirens No. 2 dives deeper into her plans. This isn’t just about money. Punchline is using XO Punch to control people.

Before Harley, Catwoman, and Ivy learn what’s happening, they set out to take out XO Punch at the source. Unfortunately, Punchline sees them coming and they fall into her trap. The issue ends with The Gotham City Sirens locked up in a cell that’s likely on fire.

Punchline get an upgrade

This isn’t just about money. Punchline is using XO Punch to control people. Other than being evil we don't why she's attempting to control people. However, she mentions Elite-Tier Subs. They could be people looking to invest in what she's creating. Punchline's already made a name for herself outside of Joker. This plan shows she can be just as bad as the other Gotham City villains. She even has her own henchmen.

Punchline has always been more than just Joker’s sidekick. Even when she was obsessed with him, you could tell she was destined for bigger things. Her debut in The Joker War was just the beginning and Leah Williams is continuing this trend in Gotham City Sirens with Punchline's plan.

Gotham City Sirens seems to be more about Punchline than Harley, Ivy, and Catwoman and that’s a good thing. Those three heroes /antiheroes are established in more than comic books. Boosting Punchline’s popularity means she can eventually be part of something bigger like movies, shows, and animated projects. Thankfully, Leah Williams is in charge. She is the perfect creator for the job. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades to find out if that happens.
