When we last left the Gotham City Sirens, they were attacked by Punchline’s mind-controlled gamers with plant life growing out of their faces. At first, Poison Ivy couldn’t take them down. Then, in a moment of brilliance only Harley Quinn could come up with, she says, “If ya can’t un-grow these guys…can ya maybe grow them?” It took Ivy a second, but she realized what Harley was suggesting. She took all the plant life in the goons and turned them into a 50-foot-tall Poison Ivy.

This writer won't spoil the ending because Gotham City Sirens is a mini-series comic book fans should buy. Without giving too much away, I’ll say that Punchline has a quality every villain has. She blows kisses to the audience before she wins the race. Thankfully, everything she did before that shows her potential going forward.

Gotham City Sirens: Punchline was the star

When the Gotham City Sirens mini-series was announced, I knew two things. First, Leah Williams' writing means it’ll be worth buying. She's never let me down. Second, the idea of Punchline having half-naked cowboys would be entertaining. This writer went 2-for-2 on that. What he didn’t expect was coming out of this a Punchline fan and wanting more of her.

Not every new supervillain will be a hit. Sometimes they disappear after their debut and that’s okay. It's better not to overstay your welcome. This mini-series proves that Punchline is here for the long haul and it’s made me want to go back and read more. This writer knows about her amazing debut during Batman: Joker War. Thankfully, there’s more to her than that series.

She was like the anti-Harley Quinn. Instead of being Joker's abused sidekick and girlfriend, she left and became her own person. It was like the writers saw the mistakes made with Harley Quinn and adjusted them for Punchline. If that's the case, it was a brilliant move.

The good news is she’s only been around 4 years and will only get better. Hopefully, Leah Williams continue writing her. If not, whoever's next in line will hopefully keep the momentum going. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades to see where Punchline will pop up next.
