Last month, DC Comics brought in new creative teams for Detective Comics, Titans, and Nightwing. New Bat Family titles like The Question: All Along the Watchtower and Batgirl were released this month. With that comes new information Bat Family fans need to know about and here it is for you in brief. It’s enough to understand what’s happening, but not too much that you won’t want to buy the issue.

Batman takes a youth serum

  • Comic book: Detective Comics No. 1092
  • Writer: Tom Taylor
  • Artist: Mikel Janin

Batman isn’t a young man anymore and he knows it. So when an old friend named Scarlett Martha Scott offers Bruce something to keep him young he strongly considers it. After a talk with Superman, Batman decides to give the miracle drug a shot. Thankfully, The Dark Knight is smart enough to test his blood when Robin wakes him up.

Nightwing's Gang War

  • Comic book: Nightwing No. 120
  • Writer: Tom Taylor
  • Artist: Dexter Soy

CEO of Spheric Solutions, Olivia Pearce, uses the explosion at her warehouse to get gangs fighting each other. While Nightwing was the intended target, Pearce told everyone that it was one of the gangs (the Teddies) looking for weapons to fight other gangs. This comes after a truce that now doesn’t exist.

Deathstroke returns

  • Comic book: Titans No. 17
  • Writer: John Layman
  • Artist: Pete Woods

The last time we saw Deathstroke was in DC Comics’ Dark Crisis. He was in a stasis of sorts and likely healing from being possessed and then fighting Nightwing. Now he’s back and setting his sights on the Titans.

Considering their decades-long rivalry, Titans fans will be happy to see their feud continue. Plus, Slade won’t be alone this time. He’s putting a team together. The first recruit is Clock King who nearly defeated the Titans.

Absolute Alfred and Batman join forces

  • Comic book: Absolute Batman No. 2
  • Writer: Scott Snyder
  • Artist: Nick Dragotta

Alfred began Absolute Batman observing The Dark Knight's moves and later trying to kill him. He continued this mission despite noticing that Bruce was protecting innocent people. After realizing they could help each other, Alfred calls a truce. This leads to them escaping Black Mask's Party Animals and the Gotham City Police in the biggest Batmobile/tank anyone’s seen.

Trouble in the Watchtower

  • Comic book: The Question: Along the Watchtower
  • Writer: Alex Segura
  • Artist: Cian Tormey

On Renee Montoya's first day as head of security of the Justice League Watchtower, someone tries to infiltrate the Justice League’s computers. The problem is there’s no pattern to the cyber attacks. To make things worse, someone on her team dies.

Thankfully, there's some good news. Renee Montoya (with the help of Jaime Reyes) already noticed that the randomness of the attacks is the key to everything. It may sound weird, but this will become the reason Renee saves the Watchtower from being weaponized by villains.

Batgirl and Lady Shiva

  • Comic book: Batgirl No. 1
  • Writer: Tate Brombal
  • Artist: Takeshi Miyazawa

Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) has unresolved issues with her mother, Lady Shiva. Which makes Cassie skeptical when she comes to her for help and protection. Even after she sees the danger they’re in, Batgirl still doesn’t trust her mother. And with good reason. She’s an evil person. However, when there’s no other option, the two are forced to team up.

Batgirl runs into mysterious trouble

  • Comic book: Birds of Prey No. 15
  • Writer: Kelly Thompson
  • Artist: Sami Basri

There isn’t much Cassandra Cain can’t handle. That’s why readers should have been worried when she saw who was in her way and looked afraid. Whoever or whatever it is stands between Cassie reaching her team (the Birds of Prey) and saving the imprisoned Amazons. While she looks scared, there's no doubt she'll come out on top.

Batman hits Jim Gordon

  • Comic book: Batman No. 154
  • Writer: Chip Zdarsky
  • Artist: Carmine Di Giandomenico

Something's going on in Gotham City and it’s making people act irrationally. It’s so bad that James Gordon pointed a gun at Batman and The Dark Knight responded with anger and a punch in the face. And while the Court of Owls is the best guess as to what’s happening, it’s probably not them. That means, on top of Riddler, Court of Owls, and Commander Star, there's another villain to worry about. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades to find out who it is.
