10 Batman villains we need to see in the DCU besides Joker

The Joker and Batman rivalry is enjoyable, but there are more Gotham City villains The Dark Knight can fight and these ten are perfect for Matt Reeves or James Gunn’s universe.

The DC Comics Universe being in its infancy is a great thing. There are tons of opportunities for characters to make their appearance. Among them is Batman and with him comes his gallery of villains and, of course, Joker.

At some point, fans will see Joker. He’s briefly in Matt Reeves’ movie and there’s no way we won’t be in James Gunn’s universe. Since there will be more of him, we'll hopefully see characters like Punchline, Clayface, Two-Face, and these other ten Batman antagonists.

Bane

There’s a ton of money in Batman and Bane. Everyone wants to see the Monster from the island of Santa Prisca break The Bat and for The Dark Knight to overcome being broken. All that’s needed couple of trailers and a giant poster saying “Bane vs Batman” and the date. The only thing that could sabotage this battle is casting the wrong person.

Victor Zsasz

The best thing about Victor Zsasz is he doesn’t have to be a main villain. He can be someone that Batman is concerned about while he’s going after the main villain. He could be the lead too. First and foremost, Batman is a detective. Seeing that skill to find Zsasz would be great especially if he’s still killing people in the process. But it may not work in a movie. A show would work better.

Kite Man

Yes, Kite Man is a joke in every universe. Yes, he should never be someone anyone the Bat Family takes seriously. All of that is why he should be in a project featuring someone from the Bat Family. He’s goofy enough to be used randomly. However, he’s also smart enough to tip the balance in the War of Jokes and Riddles. That makes him a joke that should be taken seriously (Hell yeah!).

Victor Fries

It’s easy to guess that this is a character people want more than anyone. His story in Batman: The Animated Series is one of the greatest in any animated project. Having it seen in a live-action project is a must. Movie and comic book fans deserve to witness the lengths someone will go for a person they love. The right performer would end up with award nominations and wins.

Deacon Blackfire

People love documentaries that follow cult leaders with off-the-charts charisma and Deacon Blackfire could be that kind of villain. He’s not well known to people who don’t read comics or didn’t play Batman: Arkham Knight, but that works in his favor. He fits perfectly in Matt Reeves
' more “realistic” universe with Robert Pattinson. He’s deplorable enough that fans would hate him but feel sympathetic towards his brainwashed followers.

Jason Todd

Jason Todd doesn’t need Batman to be a hero or a villain. He was fighting the mob and killing criminals before he decided to be a different person. A solo Red Hood project can show this by following Jason as he goes from criminal to outlaw hero. Plus, everyone loves Jason Todd. A friend of mine perfectly described him as a ninja Punisher. The only other difference is Jason has a better and funnier personality.

Lady Shiva

Lady Shiva is among the most dangerous villains in all of comics. She’s constantly defeated members of the Bat Family and is widely known as the most dangerous woman in the world. Having Batman fight her would be a must-see moment because he’ll probably lose.

Killer Croc

Batman needs someone he can fight and hit with all his power without wondering if he's going to kill them. They also have to say more than their name and “Born on a Monday.” That should be Killer Croc. He isn’t the most eloquent criminal and he isn’t a mastermind. Nevertheless, he fills the void of a tough villain with an interesting identity. Just don't make him like the version during Suicide Squad.

Slade Wilson

There aren’t many people who match Batman in hand-to-hand combat and weapons, but Slade Wilson is one of them. Add Deathstroke's healing factor and willingness to kill and you have one of The Dark Knight’s most dangerous villains.

The funny thing is Slade's healing abilities can be a disadvantage. Batman won't have to hold back knowing there's less of a chance of death. All of this would lead to Batman’s most epic fight ever. That says a lot considering the battles he’s had in animated and live-action features.

Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy deserves to be more than a villain in a Batman movie. She should have a TV series (limited or otherwise) and a featured film. Everything from her origin with Jason Woodrue to her crusade to protect The Green and her relationship with Harley Quinn is deep. She’s easily more interesting than Joker and the right writer can prove this. All they need to do is follow what G. Willow Wilson is doing in her Poison Ivy comic book series.
