Injustice 2 Is More Than Just New Characters

Ed Boon wanted to add something substantial to Injustice 2

Injustice 2, the DC superhero brawler is heading our way next year. But it’s more than just an easy follow-up to the highly acclaimed original. Injustice 2 will not just feature an expanded roster, but lots of customization features that are rare for a fighting game. Ed Boon talked about the new additions to Injustice 2 in a recent interview:

"We don’t want to just make a sequel of just more characters, more backgrounds. We want to add something substantial to it. We wanted a lot more personalization of the character, so it’s your Batman, not just the Batman that we made. You’re constantly upgrading and sculpting your version of the character."

In addition, Boon talked about loving being able to add in characters they really wanted in the first Injustice game for Injustice 2, such as Supergirl and Atrocitus. Boon also mentioned that Injustice 2 will be tied to events that have been going on in the Injustice comic book series, and that guest characters not from the DC Universe would certainly be featured as DLC:

"Those guest characters are always fun, to see them in the mix. It creates a fun ‘what if?’ thing. It was so fun to put Scorpion [from Mortal Kombat] into the first Injustice game, and ironically he was the one that most people downloaded [of the DLC characters] as well! So people are liking the novelty of that. It seems to be something that’s resonating with people."

Next: Lots Of New Injustice 2 Footage

Injustice 2 is easily one of my most anticipated upcoming video games as the first one was incredibly well done. And while the new one is introducing a lot of seemingly ambitious systems if done right it might be one of the best fighting games in years. Injustice 2 is releasing sometime in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
