One of Batman’s deadliest villains, Killer Croc, will come to life for the first time in Suicide Squad!

Suicide Squad is a film that features many characters from the DC universe appearing on the big screen for the first time. One of those is Batman’s biggest and deadliest enemies, the enormous Killer Croc, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Akinnuoye-Agbaje mentioned that he did a lot of research for the role of Killer Croc, citing both the comics and the animated series. He also teased multiple underwater sequences in Suicide Squad. Akinnuoye-Agbaje talked about who Killer Croc is when we meet him in Suicide Squad, and what was involved in making him look like one of Batman’s most terrifying adversaries:

"At the time you meet him in this film, he’s a fully-fledged criminal. He’s really one of the baddest criminals known to be roaming in Gotham, hence his lockup in Arkham. He’s tangled with the Batman and here he is amongst these other foes. He’s very much a formidable force at the time that you meet him.The head and shoulders are prosthetic that were glued onto my face and then the body down was painted. It took about five hours to do, but it was something that was a challenge that I was up for because I wanted to set a new standard for what can be done with prosthetics. We could have easily CGI’d this, but David [Ayer] was insistent on their being an actor to bring out the soul of the character. It gave me an opportunity to show what I could do with prosthetics"

Next: Jared Leto's Joker

Obviously portraying a well-known character for the first time in any film is going to be a big challenge, but from the looks of the trailers so far, Adewale Akinnouoye-Agbaje certainly seems to be up to the task. Suicide Squad opens August 5th.
