Will We See a ‘Batman v Superman’ Trailer During the Super Bowl?

We thought we would see a Batman v Superman trailer before The Hobbit, but it never happened. Rumors about when it might happen have been swirling for months and have it attached to nearly every WB property between now and Comic-Con.

Well, if DC wants to to make a statement, there are few larger stages on which to build excitement for a film than the Super Bowl.

"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of JusticePrevious rumours have suggested that the trailer for Zack Snyder’sBatman vs Superman will be attached to Warner Bros’ upcoming Jupiter Ascending, or to Mad Max: Fury Road. But now, speculation is rife that Warner Bros will debut the Batman vs Superman trailer during Sunday’s Super Bowl game. It would be pretty fitting: the only risk is that, if the trailer proves too exciting, it could threaten to overshadow the game itself. Can a “battle” between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots really compare to one between two of the biggest superheroes around?"

I personally think this is a good plan. We know that we’ll see a trailer for Jurassic World, we’ve heard speculation that we may see a new Star Wars tease. With Avengers coming out soon, DC needs to remind audiences that they still make superhero films. The Super Bowl seems like a great venue to build excitement in an international event.

Likelihood: Medium High. I could certainly see it. There is no real downside and it would be a boon for the film. The only thing that sheds doubt on the likelihood is that we’ve heard no official rumblings about it. It’s currently chic to tease what you’ll show at the big game, but perhaps there’s still some showmanship left in Hollywood.
