Gotham: Should Barbara Be In Arkham Asylum?

The Legal Geeks are are “two attorneys blogging about all things Geek from a lawyer’s point of view.” They recently weighed in on several legal issues present in the latest episode of Gotham, “Rogue’s Gallery” including how Arkham Asylum is a legal landmine and how Barbara Keane’s recent behavior might have her qualify as a resident of Gotham’s most infamous mental asylum.

In addition to calling Arkham Asylum a “lawsuit waiting to happen”, the Legal Geeks think the recent erratic behavior of one Barbara Keane, Jim Gordon’s fiance who left him to be with her former lover Renee Montoya (who dumped her shortly after due to her self-destructive behavior) might be enough for her to be committed:

"Barbara on the other hand, from her drug use, bipolar behavior, and thinking the voice of a child to be a paramour, probably could be held involuntarily based on the evaluation of two doctors as a danger to herself."

Now granted, throwing Barbara in a place as run down and inadequate as Arkham Asylum is a tad extreme, but I agree that she’s in a very self-destructive pattern and probably needs to be in a mental ward. But not before giving Gordon his fantastic daughter. Then lock her away by all means…
