NYCC has officially begun and George Clooney has made a surprise appearance at the con this year, to once again apologize to Batman fans for ‘Batman and Robin’, here’s what sky news had to say about the unexpected visit:

More from Movies

"George Clooney has apologised to fans for his widely panned Batman movie during a surprise appearance at New York Comic-Con.Fresh from his lavish wedding in Venice, the Hollywood star walked on stage during a panel discussion for his upcoming film, the Disney fantasy film Tomorrowland.“Since I did Batman, I’ve been de-invited from Comic-Con,” he told fans.“I met Adam West and apologised,” he said, referring to the actor who played the caped crusader in the 1960s TV series. The 1997 Batman & Robin movie – in which Clooney played Batman and Chris O’Donnell starred as his sidekick – was poorly received and Clooney has expressed regret at taking part in the project in the past."

This is not the first time Clooney has apologized for his role in Joel Shumacher’s Batman and Robin, as far as I know he apologizes just about every time an interviewer has brought up his portrayal of Batman. While I think it’s great that George Clooney cares enough about Batman fans to apologize but I also think that he can stop apologizing now, as it really is not his fault that Batman and Robin ended up a disaster, he was simply one cog in the machine. And honestly I like watching Batman and Robin for the sheer ridiculousness of the movie.
