The news has just broken via a tweet from Jeff Sneider of The Wrap, Warner Bros has changed the opening day for Batman v Superman from May 6th 2016 opening against Captain America 3 to March 25th 2016. Here is what IGN’s Scott Collura had to say about the change in release date:

More from Movies

"The Batman v Superman move by Warners obviously avoids a face-off with Marvel’s increasingly seemingly unbeatable properties. It had long been assumed that either BvS or Cap 3 would move, and now we have our answer as to who blinked first. Honestly I’m not surprised to hear that Warner Bros changed the date for Batman v Superman, I thought it was a terrible idea to try and open it the same day as Captain America 3 in the first place. Captain America 3 was already set to open on May 6th 2016 and it never made sense for Warner Bros to try and open Batman v Superman on the same date. Now both movies will have equal opportunity to shine and perform well at the box offices. On another note. DC has also announced several as yet untitled films in the coming years, check out the full list in the IGN article.
