‘Gotham’ Casts New Villain, Mr. Freeze Casting Soon?

Gotham has officially cast another villain and a classic rouge may be soon added to the foray. First up, according to Deadline Dexter’s David Zayas will play gangster Salvatore Maroni in a reoccurring role. Maroni- for those who may not know- is the extremely formidable mob boss who, while on trial, scarred Harvey Dent with a bottle of acid and thus creating Two-Face. Yeah, I love Two-Face, but I never really bought that either.

In any event, it should be some fun drama to see just how powerful Maroni was before his infamous comic introduction.

Also in villain news, Gotham executive producer Danny Cannon talked a little about what it’s going to take to Get Mr. Freeze to the small screen this season.

"Without giving too much away – because I’m not allowed to – the great thing about working on a CSI procedural show for so long was we worked with so many experts – specialists in each field. There’s a lot of things I picked up along the way.My first conversation with Bruno Heller about the villains in this show is always that they need to be very credible and relate-able and the science behind them needs to be real.So I had a couple of stories that I’d held onto – real, true stories – and one of them just related to Mr Freeze. I know a real way to create an origin story."

Since Mr. Freeze is supposed to be introduced this season, we should expect casting any day now. If it were up to me, it’d be the great Jurgen Pronchow. But they never listen to me.
