Quentin Tarantino is a great director, I recently saw both volumes of Kill Bill for the first time and I have to admit I was rather impressed. Of course I had like zero expectations when I sat down to watch them with my husband. I was only going to watch Kill Bill because Eric wanted to watch them, but I found myself really drawn in to the story. I’m also a pretty big fan of Django Unchained, which I first saw in theaters and have been wanting to watch again ever since seeing Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2.
But, while watching Kill Bill, one thing occurred to me and stayed on my mind throughout both films; I never want Quentin Tarantino to direct a Batman film. Tarantino films are far too gory for Batman. i couldn’t watch a Batman film where although Batman doesn’t kill, he does permanently maim and disfigure, ripping off limbs and appendages, blood spurting everywhere.
Something else I worry about when it comes to Quentin Tarantino is that even though he is a comic book fan he might feel that his Batman would kill. And that would just be terrible, it would go against everything Batman stands for. I know that in the very beginning Batman carried a gun and did not have the same convictions as he does now, but that was just about 75 years ago and since then Batman has always been against killing.
In conclusion, Quentin Tarantino is an awesome director, and he’s even a comic book fan as far as I know but he just wouldn’t be right for the Batman universe. I don’t think he has any plans of ever writing or directing a Batman film, for which I am very grateful!
