‘Son of Batman’ made it’s world debut at WonderCon and IGN has now reviewed the film. They have titled their review The Dad Knight. You can download the film digitally now, and it will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on the 6th of May. Here is a short blurb from IGN’s article below. The article included a video review by IGN writer Jim Vejvoda, which you can watch here.

"Based on writer Grant Morrison and artist Andy Kubert’s comics storyline “Batman and Son,” Son of Batman — the 20th DC Universe Animated Original Movie — finds the Dark Knight (voiced by Jason O’Mara, who also voiced Batman in Justice League: War) discovering that he has a 10-year-old son by Talia Al Ghul (Morena Baccarin)."

I’m definitely a Morena Baccarin fan but just from what I have seen of the clips and trailers I have to agree with Jim Vejvoda that she doesn’t seem as “dialed into” her character as the rest of the voice cast. I personally think that Marina Sirtis would have been a great choice for Taila, I think her voice better fits the character. Jim gave ‘Son of Batman’ a solid 7.5 out of 10, and that gives me a lot of hope, I think it means I am likely to give it an 8.5 or a 9 out of ten, because I tend to think better of films than the critics do. But I also have high expectations for this film as it is the first time Damian Wayne will be venturing out of the comics, so it had better be as good as it looks or I will be very disappointed and that will be reflected in my review of the film. Check back with Caped Crusades for my review of ‘Son of Batman’ which will be shortly after May 6.
