Batman Fanfic of the Week: ‘Heroes in the Shadows’

Welcome back readers to another Batman Fanfic of the Week! This week I’m featuring a more serious story titled ‘Heroes in the Shadows’, written by Archive of Our Own member Impulsivelyblue. ‘Heroes in the Shadows’ is another short fic, but its also very well written. This is the summary that drew me in and got me to read the story:

"They hide in the shadows, the heroes and vigilantes of Gotham.Embraced by the darkness as it takes in their very selves. Scars, screams and pleas echo in their own shadows, a ghost of their former selves and the people that they were never able to become."

Read ‘Heroes in the Shadows’ here. Impulsivelyblue has really done a phenomenal job of describing the realities of the world the Bat-clan vigilantes exist in. I think ‘Heroes in the Shadows’ is a poignant little piece about the dark, dramatic, and often sad lives of every Gotham vigilante.
