Game Informer is continuing its month long exclusive coverage of Batman: Arkham Knight with an article today that takes an in-depth look at the Caped Crusader’s new Batsuit for the game. Yes Batman is getting all new armor in the final Rocksteady Batman title, and apparently it matches the Batmobile! The reason for that is simple, Batman can be launched out of the Batmobile to glide through the air, even right into a fight! Of course he’s going to need different armor when he is being ejected out the front or roof (however it’ll work) of his car. This is what Rocksteady art director David Hego had to say on the new suit:

"“You put them next to each other, and you can see that they’re coming from the same family. You get the same elements on Batman’s suit, you have the same shapes, you have different metal shaders between carbon fiber and the brushed metal shininess. That’s the visual story. The story behind it is that Batman has this new car, and he’s doing all this crazy s— with it, and he needs to eject at mach 3 out of it.”"

You can read the full Game Informer article, written by Jeff Cork, here. It seems the new Batsuit (which comes with a new cape as well) is going to be a bit less theatrical and a bit more practical. The cape has been given an added feature to help extend gliding time and distance, and will look like it can realistically support Batman’s gliding. Personally I think the new armor looks better this way, I like when the Batsuit looks like it can realistically do what it’s supposed to do, protect Batman, hold his gadgets, help him glide over the city, etc.
