In a video interview veteran actor Jeremy Irons (the new Alfred Pennyworth) gives us a few tidbits about the upcoming Batman VS Superman film. He dishes about the reasons behind shooting and release schedules, filling Michael Caine’s shoes and what its like working with Batfleck.

Batman vs. Superman opens May 6, 2016.

Though Irons is an accomplished actor, I’m still not convinced he’s the right choice for Alfred. His casting almost seems like they are hiring for aesthetic instead of substance. Michael Caine brought a depth of character and subtlety to a role usually portrayed as silly or cartoony. Only time will tell if Irons can do the same, or if the writing will give him enough to work with.
